your guide to weddings at rochford WINERY, from a yarra valley wedding photographer

If you’re after a wedding venue that feels expansive, polished and unmistakably Yarra Valley, Rochford Winery is a fantastic choice. Set in Coldstream on the Maroondah Highway, the estate has that real sense of scale people come to the region for — wide lawns, long vineyard views, and the Great Dividing Range sitting quietly in the background. It feels refined, but not in a way that ever feels stiff. They also do an amazing job of running the day. Rochford host all kinds of events; from huge concerts to winery tours to, obviously, weddings, meaning that the staff there have everything down, meaning less stress for you and a smoother feeling wedding. This makes a big difference!

Ceremony options (THREE great looks)

1) The Lawn

This is the obvious hero if you want the full vineyard-and-mountain backdrop. Rochford’s Lawn is their main outdoor ceremony space, set on manicured lawns with styling included, and it gives you those uninterrupted valley views that make the place feel so special. It’s elegant without needing much added to.

2) The Conservatory

If the weather turns, the Conservatory is a very strong indoor option. It’s purpose-built, climate controlled, and importantly, it doesn’t feel like a compromise. That always makes a difference. A good wet-weather plan should still feel intentional, and Rochford seems to understand that.

2) The Pavilion

If you want to have an outdoor ceremony, but are a little worried about the weather turning at some point then the pavilion is a great option. Outdoors, but under cover, and directly connected to the reception space, it makes for an easy flow if the weather is threatening to turn.

Reception spaces

For the reception, the two main spaces are Isabella’s Restaurant and Il Vigneto.

Isabella’s is the more classic, large-scale option. It has floor-to-ceiling windows, broad views across the valley, and flexibility for both seated and cocktail layouts. Rochford lists it for 50 to 400 guests, so it works whether you’re planning something intimate or something much bigger.

Il Vigneto feels a little more relaxed. It has its own charm — large windows, a deck looking over the lake, and a more laid-back Italian feel. Rochford lists it for 60 to 200 seated guests, which makes it a lovely middle ground if you want something generous in size without going too grand.

ROCHFORD FAQs

Can we do ceremony and reception on site?

  • Yes — that’s one of Rochford’s big strengths. You can hold the ceremony on The Lawn or in the Conservatory, then move into Isabella’s or Il Vigneto for the reception, all within the one estate.

Is Rochford good for a larger wedding?

  • Definitely. Isabella’s Restaurant is listed for 50 to 400 guests, so Rochford handles larger celebrations very comfortably while still keeping the landscape front and centre.

Is there a strong wet-weather option?

  • Yes — the Conservatory is a proper indoor ceremony space with heating and air conditioning, and The Pavilion is an outdoor option while still being under cover.
