Weddings at The Farm Yarra Valley
your guide to the farm yarra valley weddings, from a yarra valley wedding photographer!
The Farm Yarra Valley has that lovely balance of feeling like a genuine country property, while still being surprisingly close to Melbourne. Set across 100 acres in Warrandyte South, around 30 minutes from the city, it brings together vineyards, open paddocks, native bushland and a warm homestead-style reception space at the gateway to the Yarra Valley.
What I like about it is that the venue feels relaxed without becoming overly rustic. There is plenty of timber, greenery and open countryside, but the spaces themselves are polished and thoughtfully put together. It has character, but it still leaves room for the wedding to feel like your own.
A The Farm Yarra Valley wedding also has a very easy rhythm to it. You can hold the ceremony around the Barn, move straight into drinks outside the Farmhouse, take a short walk for portraits, then settle in for dinner without sending guests between multiple locations.
Ceremony options
1) The Barn
The Barn is the main ceremony space, and it works both indoors and outdoors.
It sits just below the Farmhouse, surrounded by lawn and overlooking a peaceful dam. Outside, you get open sky, greenery and the wider countryside around you. Inside, the white timber beams, large windows and grand white sliding door give the room a clean, warm backdrop for the ceremony.
That flexibility is one of its strongest features. You can plan for an outdoor wedding while knowing that the indoor option still feels intentional if the weather turns.
2) Around the grounds
There are also several outdoor locations across the property, with vineyards, established trees, gardens and rolling paddocks creating different options depending on the size and style of the ceremony.
The landscape is a big part of what makes the venue special, so it makes sense to let it do most of the work. A simple ceremony setup against the trees or open countryside can be more than enough.
Reception in the Farmhouse
The reception takes place inside the Farmhouse, which has a genuine sense of warmth to it.
Antique fixtures, exposed brick, white beams and an open timber verandah give it that homestead character, but it still feels considered and contemporary. It suits long shared tables particularly well, which fits naturally with the venue’s family-style approach to food.
The official 2026 brochure lists capacity for up to 150 seated guests or 180 guests cocktail-style. The standard Farm Package page currently lists 140 seated, so the exact number will depend on your layout, dance floor and styling.
What matters more than the numbers is that the room still feels inviting once everyone is inside. It is large enough for a substantial celebration, but it does not lose the warmth that makes speeches, dinner and the quieter parts of the night feel personal.
The Barrel Room
The barrel room can be used for ceremonies, speeches, portraits, the first dance or as a dedicated dance floor later in the evening. It also gives you the option to create separate zones across the wedding, rather than asking one room to do everything.
From a practical point of view, that flexibility is valuable. If the weather changes, or if you want the reception to shift in energy as the night progresses, there is somewhere for that to happen without disrupting the entire setup.
Visually, it also brings in something darker and moodier than the Farmhouse and outdoor spaces, which adds nice contrast to the final gallery.
Food and wine
Food is a genuine focus here, rather than something that feels added onto the venue package.
The Farm describes its approach as farm-to-plate, using seasonal produce from its own kitchen garden and nearby growers. The main wedding package is built around generous share-style dining, with canapés, antipasti, shared mains, sides and petit fours.
That style of food suits the venue. It feels social, generous and relaxed, with large plates moving around the table instead of everyone sitting through a highly formal service.
There are also full vegan and vegetarian packages available, along with cocktail-style weddings and smaller micro-wedding options.
The beverage packages include wines made on the property, along with local beer and cider, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Premium upgrades can add things like cocktails, sparkling towers, premium wines, lawn games, upgraded linen and a wedding cake made by The Farm.
Where to get ready
There is no accommodation directly on the property, so I would suggest getting ready somewhere nearby in Warrandyte, Ringwood or the surrounding Yarra Valley.
There are some beautiful homes and smaller stays within around 10 to 20 minutes of the venue, which can work particularly well for morning preparations. A house with large windows, enough room for everyone and a little outdoor space will generally give you a much calmer start than trying to squeeze into several small hotel rooms.
The venue also recommends nearby options including Casa Warrandyte, Yarra Brae Views, Yarra Valley Lodge and hotels around Ringwood.
Because The Farm is so close to Melbourne, guests can also return to the city after the wedding if they prefer. But staying nearby is still worth considering, especially if you want the whole day to feel like a proper Yarra Valley escape.
Best spots for The Farm Yarra Valley photos
The landscape here gives you plenty of variety without needing to travel far! The Barn and white sliding door provide a clean, architectural background. The dam and surrounding grassland give you something softer and more natural. Then you have vineyard rows, paddocks, established trees and the darker textures around the Farmhouse and Barrel Room.
Some of my favourite options for The Farm Yarra Valley photos would be:
- The exterior of the Barn and its large white doors
- The lawn and dam around the ceremony area
- Vineyard rows as the light begins to soften
- Open paddocks and long grass
- Established gum trees around the property
- The timber verandah and homestead details
- The Barrel Room for a darker indoor set
- The courtyard and Farmhouse after sunset
As always, I would not try to use every possible location. A short route through two or three different areas will give you plenty of variety without keeping you away from the party.
my ideal the farm yarra valley timeline
- Get ready somewhere nearby in Warrandyte or the surrounding area.
- Hold a late-afternoon ceremony at the Barn or outside on the grounds.
- Keep family photos close to the ceremony location so guests can move naturally into drinks.
- Spend around 15 minutes on portraits near the dam, vineyard and surrounding paddocks.
- Join everyone for canapés and drinks around the Farmhouse.
- Step outside briefly at golden hour if the light is particularly good.
- Move into the Farmhouse for a shared feast, speeches and dancing.
- Use the Barrel Room for the first dance or as a separate party space later in the night.
This is the kind of venue where the day works best when you keep things simple. Everything you need is already close by, so there is no reason to spend an hour driving around the Yarra Valley looking for additional locations.
