FERGUSSON WINERY WEDDINGS
After a relaxed Yarra Valley wedding day with great food, vines for days, an easy run-sheet and amazing (and I cannot stress this one enough) staff, who really care? Fergusson Winery nails it — ceremony, portraits and reception all in one place, about an hour from Melbourne, in the iconic Yarra Valley.
OK; the staff. I actually always tell my couples that the staff are the most essential aspect of a venue. Yes, it's great if the venue is pretty (obviously, particularly for me as a photographer). It's important for it to have good wet weather back-up plans etc. Good food, nice drinks, easy access for guests etc. etc. however (in my opinion) the most essential component is the staff! And the staff at Fergusson, headlined by Sarah, are fantastic. They really take the time to get to know you, and what you want out of your wedding day. Sarah personally drives you / us around in the buggy, showing us the best photo locations, and will bring you drinks when you need, fluff your dress, and generally just pamper you all day.
Ceremony options (THREE great looks)
1) The Forever Chapel
A light-filled white chapel overlooking the vines—vintage pews, stained-glass detail and space for your crew. Seats up to ~80 guests; it’s also a beautiful wet-weather back-up.
2) The Sandstone Gazebo & Lawn
Outdoors with greenery and vineyard views—romantic, simple logistics and a straight glide into canapés. If the forecast turns, the team can pivot you undercover without derailing the timeline.
3) The Barrel Room
A lovely indoor space, surrounded by wine barrels, and with lovely natural light coming from a large window, with fairy lights above. Super cute, and unique.
Reception: Restaurant or Barrel Room
- Restaurant: cathedral ceilings, big windows, open fireplace and that show-stopper chandelier. Up to ~200 seated or ~130 with a dancefloor. As always, check with Sarah at Fergusson to confirm your layout!
- Barrel Room: French oak barrels lining the walls for a rustic, intimate party. Guides list ~60–80 seated (with room for a dancefloor) or higher for cocktail. Fun fact: the barrel room doubles are a rave cave (i.e. a separate dance floor section)!
Where to get ready: on-site & nearby
There’s a cosy couples’ retreat available from late morning, plus an on-site homestead (sleeps up to 6) for a calm, walkable start to the day. Many couples also book a Yarra Glen/Healesville stay for extra space and light. Plenty of options within a very short drive from Fergusson.
